Janet Montgomery is about to cross paths with the Duttons.
The New Amsterdam vet has joined the Season 2 cast of Paramount+’s Yellowstone prequel 1923, TVLine has confirmed. She’ll recur as Hillary, “a thoughtful woman who does not want to see injustice go unpunished,” according to the official character breakdown.
Montgomery is the second major casting announced for Season 2. It was previously reported that Dexter grad Jennifer Carpenter will portray Mamie Fossett, “a highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.”
1923 Season 1 introduced a new generation of Duttons, led by patriarch Jacob (played by Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren), and explored the early 20th Century — when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition all plagued the mountain west, and the Duttons who called it home.
The Season 1 cast also included Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves and Jerome Flynn.
Montgomery is best known to TV audiences for her starring role as Dr. Laura Bloom on the NBC medical drama New Amsterdam, which wrapped its five-season run in 2023. Additional TV credits include WGN America’s Salem and NBC’s This Is Us.
