6 Upcoming Yellowstone TV Shows and Spinoffs Explained

After five successful seasons on TV, Yellowstone will sadly come to an end at the end of 2024, but thankfully, the series will continue as Taylor Sheridan has a number of spinoffs and sequel series in the works (including one starring three of Yellowstone’s main cast members). The Paramount Network neo-Western drama, created by Sheridan and John Linson, debuted in June 2018 and has slowly but surely become one of the most talked-about shows on TV. Due to its success, Paramount has been convinced to expand its working relationship with Sheridan, with several upcoming series set in the Yellowstone universe.

While fans may be sad to see the original series end after Yellowstone season 5, part 2, the good news is that Sheridan and Paramount still have a number of series in the works to look forward to. Some will continue to take viewers back in time to see other generations of the Dutton family at Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, while others will continue where the original show left off at the end of the series finale. Whatever the case, each planned and reported Yellowstone spinoff is exciting for those who want to see more from the series, even after Kevin Costner’s John Dutton III has departed.

Of course, before fans can look forward to the various exciting Yellowstone spinoffs and sequels, they must say goodbye to the original show. The Yellowstone season 5, part 1 finale was released on January 1, 2023, and part 2 will premiere nearly two years later. The 2023 Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike and Kevin Costner’s departure from Yellowstone may have delayed production on season 2. But the end of Yellowstone will finally come on November 10, 2024.

Paramount has yet to confirm when the Yellowstone series finale will air. However, since there are six episodes in season 2, the final hour could premiere on December 15, 2024, if there’s no break between episodes. So viewers could have all the answers to Yellowstone’s most pressing questions, like the final outcome of Beth and Jamie’s feud and the fate of John Dutton, before the new year. Only time will tell when fans can expect the Yellowstone series finale, though. Thankfully, they had enough time to prepare to say goodbye to some characters in the finale of this neo-Western.
