“There’s definitely a surprise that no one is expecting,” the ABC star says of season 7, episode 6, which sees Maddie and Chimney’s ceremony in question.
Nothing is ever easy on 9-1-1, even getting married.
At the end of last week’s episode of the ABC first responder drama, Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) show up at a church and inform a wedding-dressed Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) that they’ve lost the groom — and now Entertainment Weekly as an exclusive sneak preview of season 7, episode 6 that shows how the fire fighters came to realize Chimney (Kenneth Choi) is missing.
“In true Maddie and Chimney fashion, getting to the altar is going to be an uphill battle,” Choi tells EW. “And there will be several curve balls thrown their way. I think the audience will be wondering, ‘Is he going to make it? Are they going to get married? Is this actually going to happen or what?'”
Hewitt echoes her on-screen love’s sentiments.
“The show is a wild ride. It’s meant to take you on a journey. This episode will have its fun, Hangover vibes, but there’s definitely a surprise that no one is expecting and that will pop up pretty quickly in the episode,” she teases.
That said, fans of Maddie and Chimney don’t have too much to worry about — though they may have to wait a bit longer to see the couple’s happy ending: “I do think that love always wins for Maddie and Chimney, and so love will win. It’s just going to be…. It’s just going to be a ride to get there,” Hewitt says.
In the meantime, she suggests viewers enjoy the ride: “I mean, you get to see Ryan in a pink suit, so why would you not watch? Why would you not? And he has free nipples and chest hair. I mean, just watch the show, people. Just watch it.”
