Season 3 of Shonda Rhimes’ hit Netflix series Bridgerton marked the best ever launch weekend for the streaming giant. In total, the first four episodes were watched over 45 million times worldwide.

Debuting in 2020, the romantic series won over subscribers by becoming the platform’s most-watched TV show in 2021. In fact, the first two seasons are among Netflix’s ten most popular English-language TV series. The first season, in fourth place, accumulated almost 930 million viewing hours and over 113 million views. Its sequel is in 9th place, with 797 million viewing hours and 93.8 million views. To date, season 3 of Bridgerton is in the Netflix Top 10 in 92 countries. Part two is scheduled to drop June 13. While the popularity of Bridgerton is undeniable, the new season’s numbers have surely received a boost from the nine million new subscribers to the platform, which bring the total number of subscribers to 270 million throughout the world.
The series also captured viewers’ attention with episodes that were shorter than the average for the first two seasons. While the first four episodes of the third season of Bridgerton clocked up 220 minutes of entertainment, the eight episodes of the second season totalled 510 minutes. Meanwhile, on social media, the romance of “Polin,” the nickname given to the couple of Penelope and Colin, at the heart of the plot of this third season, is so popular that the hashtag #Bridgerton has generated two million clicks on TikTok. There are 95,300 clicks for #brigertonseason3 and over 97,000 for #Polin.
