The upcoming show Sullivan’s Crossing is getting the attention of Virgin River fans. Not only does it have a similar story line, but it also features not one, but two VR cast members.
Although Sullivan’s Crossing originally aired on Canada’s CTV, the show is coming to The CW in fall 2023. It didn’t take long for us to recognize two familiar faces on the cast list: Lauren Hammersley and Lynda Boyd.
Sullivan’s Crossing is about a young neurosurgeon named Maggie, who returns to her hometown to reconnect with her father, Sully.
First up is Hammersley, who plays Charmaine in Virgin River. The character is dating Jack (Martin Henderson) when Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) originally moved to Virgin River, but their relationship doesn’t last long. Although Charmaine is pregnant with twins, she drops a bombshell in the season four finale: Jack isn’t the father. In Sullivan’s Crossing, the 52-year-old actress will play Connie Boyle, a resident at Sully’s (Scott Patterson) camp.
Next up? Boyd portrays Lilly in Virgin River. The character has a pivotal role in seasons one and two, but she unfortunately passes away in season three after battling cancer. As for Sullivan’s Crossing, the 58-year-old actress will play Phoebe Lancaster, Maggie’s (Morgan Kohan) mother.
We’re not totally surprised by the Virgin River crossover, especially since Sullivan’s Crossing is based on the book series by Robyn Carr, who also authored the Virgin River books. Both shows have story lines that follow young women who retreat to rural towns for a fresh start. In Virgin River, Mel is a nurse. And in Sullivan’s Crossing, Maggie is a neurosurgeon.
Sullivan’s Crossing sounds right up our alley.
