It already feels like a lifetime has passed since Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 aired, but the questions raised in the last series haven’t exactly gone away.
Fan theories have gone into overdrive across social media, with reports from showrunners beginning to hint at what audiences could expect to see along the way.
With no concrete details as-of-yet – but plenty of cliffhangers left to speculate on – here are the top five burning questions we desperately need Virgin River Season 6 to answer.
Virgin River Season 6: What did Everett say to Mel?
Of course, the most obvious cliffhanger leaving at the end of Virgin River Season 5 Part 2 is what Everett – who has previously been revealed as Mel’s biological father – intends on sharing with her. Although Everett initially refuses to believe their genetic link, he eventually comes around to the idea, heading to Mel’s house and explaining that he has something to tell her.
As expected, fan speculation has been rife with ideas from the moment the words left Everett’s lips. Popular theories include him also being Charmaine’s father, Everett diagnosed with a life-changing illness, and the potential of being Vernon’s estranged brother. On top of this, fans suspect that Mel might actually have siblings that she doesn’t yet know about.
What is going on between Brady and Lark?
After Brady and Brie went their separate ways, Lark has been enamoring the resident bad boy throughout Season 5. However, there are some inconsistencies surrounding how the pair met and how the couple’s relationship is left – with Lark taking a prison call while explaining that Brady “doesn’t know anything.” For someone who supposedly came from a woodland commune, how can this be possible?
For many, the plot point feels as though the series is buying time for Brady to get back with his former flame, Brie – who may well bail him out of foreboding trouble. “I think the Lark/Jimmy setup is ultimately going to result in Brady and Brie getting back together. The writers teased it quite a bit in the two holiday episodes IMO. Feelings and chemistry are still there 100%,” one explained on Reddit.
Will Preacher get a happy ending?
Poor, poor Preacher. Spending most of his time on Virgin River trying to be a good friend to Paige, he’s knee-deep in taking the rap for something he didn’t actually do. After Paige’s abusive ex Wes took things too far, Paige accidentally killed him, calling in Preacher to help. Now that Paige has fled the town with her son for safety, where does this leave Preacher in the meantime?
Virgin River Season 6 might be the pivot for Preacher to get a happy ending, although fans are still on the fence about this becoming a reality. “The writing this season took a hard left turn. This felt so odd and out of character, I hated that entire storyline. It was illogical, poorly written, and wrong,” one fan said of his most recent storyline.
Can Muriel and Cameron stay the course?
One of the most unexpected relationships to come out of Virgin River is the budding romance between Cameron and Muriel, who is at least 15 years his senior. After spending more time together at the local surgery, the two began harmlessly flirting before things progressed to the next level. However, fans have been thrown by the more obvious barriers between the two, with Cameron clearly stating his wants for children and traditional family life.
There’s plenty of division over whether Muriel and Cameron are endgame or a fleeting fling, but many do agree that there’s a lot more to be explored in Season 6. “I believe they’re gonna be together and stay in VR,” explained a Redditor . “I love the pair together… Muriel made Cameron a better person and I like to think that we can change our wants as life passes. Maybe when he moved to VR his heart was so broken that he moved there looking for the ‘perfect way of life,’ but as the months passed and when he started his relationship with Muriel he wanted changed. Maybe now, just find a good partner, love is enough.”
