News that Elon Musk will be getting the biopic treatment has seen many social media users dismiss the film.
Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, seems to just have the toughest luck as his upcoming biopic is already being scheduled.
Tech mogul and billionaire Elon Musk has proven to be a controversial figure in recent years and is never too far from derision on social media.
On Twitter, sorry I mean X, the many changes he makes to the social media platform often result in a few negative names thrown his way.
The announcement that a biopic will be made about his life has seen an expected backlash online.
On Friday (November 10) it was revealed that The Whale and Requiem for a Dream director Darren Aronofsky will helm the project. The film will be based on the recently published biography by Walter Isaacson.
The biopic is reported made by Hereditary and Everything, Everywhere All at Once production company A24, however, there has been no word on who will be part of the rest of the movie’s creative team.
As this news spread around social media, the jokes were not far behind.
“An Elon Musk biopic has already been made, it’s called Jackass,” one X user joked.
“This sounds like the worst film ever made,” another added.
“This can’t be real. No way. I refuse to believe it, nah,” one X user added.
“The only thing I want to see is this project being canceled like seriously please just cancel this,” one X user said.
Aronofsky was not able to escape the critics either, as some questioned whether he could do the film justice.
Responding to a tweet explaining Aronofsky would be directing, one user replied: “One of the worst sentences I’ve ever read.”
“It is the worst idea ever + Darren Aronofsky,” another wrote.”
Some users suggested the film could be very critical of Musk however, making for a more enjoyable viewing experiences for his critics.
After all, Isaacson’s book takes swipes at both Musk’s work and personal life.
Fans also discussed who would be the best actor to bring the controversial Musk to the big screen.
Pointing to the apparent appearance similarities between the pair, one film guru penned: “Kevin Durand.”
Another noted the Peaky Blinders and Oppenheimer actor Cillian Murphy would be a good shout, though others certainly disagreed.
“He’s too charismatic, good looking and very skinny, also the eyes aren’t soulless like Elon,” one person remarked. Some of the most popular names for the role on X included Nicolas Cage, Rami Malek, Robert Downey Jr. and Jesse Eisenberg.
