Elon Musk recently surprised crowds in Los Angeles when he arrived on the red carpet for the premiere of Lola, the directorial debut film of Brooklyn Beckham’s wife Nicola Peltz.
Brooklyn Beckham’s wife Nicola Peltz has recently hit the headlines following the release of her directorial debut film Lola, in which she stars as the titular character. However, in a bizarre twist, her connection to billionaire Elon Musk was also revealed when he hit the red carpet for the film’s premiere.
Earlier this month, X (Twitter) owner Elon was shocked crowds in LA when he asked for pictures next to Nicola and her father Nelson Peltz at the small indie flick’s opening night event. His appearance at the premiere sparked a lot of questions, as many people were left wondering why the second richest man in the world would attend a screening of such an under-the-radar movie.
Nelson is the founder, together with Peter W. May and Edward P. Garden, of the alternative investment management fund Trian Partners. He is also the non-executive chairman of Wendy’s Company, Sysco, and The Madison Square Garden Company.
It would seem that an allyship might be beneficial for Elon and Nelson, as the latter is an activist investor who’s taken direct aim at Disney CEO Bob Iger. In turn, Elon has been embroiled in an ongoing row with Disney, previously hitting out at Bob in a series of tweets.
While attending Nicola’s event, Elon sparked yet more intrigue when he hinted that he might be interested in purchasing Disney.
When asked by a FabTV reporter why he was at the premiere, he said: “I’m just here with friends… Thinking about what companies to acquire.”
Meanwhile, Nicola’s dad Nelson also appears to be unafraid of ruffling feathers at Disney.
In December, he suggested himself and former Disney CFO Jay Rasulo as director candidates to replace two current board members.
