‘I’m lucky to be here’ – chef Gordon Ramsay showcases horrific injuries after terrifying cycle smash

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has revealed snaps of his horrifically bruised torso following aa horrifying accident – and credited his bike helmet for saving his life.

The famously loud-mouthed chef and father-of-five, 57, who is married to Tana, shared the scary update with followers, writing alongside an Instagram post: “With #FathersDay tomorrow I have very important message for all the dads out there…WEAR A HELMET !”

“This week I had a really bad accident while riding my bike in Connecticut. I’m doing ok and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato.”

In the video he shared, he lifted his chef’s top to reveal his entire side was one big black and purple bruise.

He added: “I’m thankful for all the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawerence + Memorial Hospital in New London who looked after me and checked me out, but most thankful for my helmet that saved my life. Have a great Father’s Day and be safe Gx.”

In the video, he also had a message for others – highlighting the importance of wearing a helmet while cycling, as he confessed the accident “really shook me” and added: “Honestly, I’m lucky to be here.”

As he continued to expand on his misadventure, his hands twitched nervously and he confessed he was “in pain”.

Gordon was immediately inundated with support from fans, with one writing: “Omg bloody hell that Bruise!!!!!! Omg glad ur OK. You are a trooooper.”

Another added: “Oh my goodness I’m so sorry!! So glad you’re doing okay and thank you for spreading awareness of the importance of helmets.”
