Gordon Ramsay is back on his bike just a month after a serious accident left him feeling “lucky” to be alive.
The celebrity chef, 57, shared on Instagram on Monday that he has returned to cycling after the incident in America which left him shaken.
In June, Ramsay revealed on social media that he was left “in pain” following a terrifying bike accident and showed off his bruised body.
Now the TV star has posted a heartwarming update featuring his five-year-old son Oscar while in Cornwall.
In the video, Ramsay is seen riding along a remote path and can be heard praising his son’s efforts on two-wheels: “You are doing so well, by the way. Helmet’s on, gears are intact, eyes on the road, yes? Good boy.”
Flipping the camera to himself, wearing a helmet and shades, he added: “It’s so nice to be back on the bike.”
The chef then quipped: “Off he goes. Slow down or you’ll get caught speeding by the police—please do not get caught speeding, your sister’s not going to be impressed.”
He also shared a clip of himself preparing to use a Zwift exercise bike, joking that “this ride will be a lot safer”.
Last month the restauranteur shared photos of his clothes being torn and helmet crushed while biking in Connecticut in the US.
In an Instagram video, he showed a purple bruise which appeared to cover a significant portion of his torso and stomach.
Ramsay said at the time: “Hey guys, it’s Gordon. I’d like to share a very important message with you all.
“You know how much I love cycling and triathlons and Ironman (races) etc and this week, unfortunately, I had a really bad accident and it really shook me and honestly I’m lucky to be here.
“Those incredible trauma surgeons, doctors, nurses in the hospitals looked after me this week, they were amazing but honestly, you’ve got to wear helmets.
“I don’t care how short the journey is. I don’t care… these helmets cost money, but they’re crucial, even with a kid’s short journey, they’ve got to wear a helmet now.
“I’m lucky to be standing here. I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week. And I’m sort of getting through it.”
Ramsay also captioned the post, writing that he was “doing OK and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries but I am a bit bruised up looking like a purple potato”.
He added that he was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, Connecticut, and the helmet “saved” his life.
