With a lovely yet dissatisfying ending to Bridgerton season 3, fans were sure the show would take another two years to talk about season 4 and eventually release it. Much to their surprise, Bridgerton’s social media platforms have started to tease the very thing fans want to see: the story of Benedict Bridgerton. The show brought in some exciting twists and turns in his life through season 3, including him exploring his sexuality. With glimpses that left viewers desperate for more, we are looking forward to seeing what happens to Benedict. Fans who have already read the books are eager to see their imagination play on a screen. Here’s what we know about Benedict Bridgerton so far.

The first two seasons don’t focus much on Benedict’s story. As Francesca, Michael, Colin, and Penelope tied the knot while Anthony and Kate were on their extended honeymoon, season 3 saw Benedict initially completely averse to having a partner. He continued to dodge potential matches at balls until he met Lady Tilley Arnold, a widowed woman he met at an event. Her bold demeanor and confidence instantly caught his attention. After meeting her once again at yet another party and calling on her at her home, he got into a passionate relationship with her.

He found himself at a crossroads when she introduced him to Paul, another lover of hers. After some encouragement from her, Benedict began to explore his sexuality and ended in a throuple with Paul and Tilley. Towards the end, Tilley expressed her desire to settle down with him, but now that he had only started to explore what he really wanted, he was not ready to do the same.

The writers have said that Benedict’s character, played excellently by Luke Thompson, is pansexual. According to the showrunner, Benedict’s rejection of Tilley’s proposal is a huge hint about his future and how his story will progress in season 4. According to the original storyline in the books, Benedict marries Sophie Beckett, and it looks like he will be meeting her at a ball in season 4. At the same time, the creators have emphasized that they will continue to talk about Benedict’s identity and course of exploration before having his character settle down. There is no news on who will play Sophie’s role.

Filming and Potential Release Date

Filming of the show is supposed to start in September of this year. Following the pattern of the last few seasons, it looks like the release of season 4 will come in approximately two years. Much to the fans’ disappointment, the showrunner has confirmed that the release will likely be in 2026. Many want the show to have a male love interest instead of Sophie. After the disappearance of Daphne and Simon, the very first couple talked about on the show, viewers want to see Anthony in Benedict’s season to further explore their sibling dynamic and hilarious interactions with comical advice from Anthony as Benedict falls in love.

Memes are circulating the internet as the show will have Benedict settle down with a partner after telling Tilley that he isn’t interested. Still, there is hope that his identity will be fleshed out in detail before that happens. This identity includes not just his sexuality but also other traits that shape him, such as his hobbies, his relationship with his family members, and his transition from wanting to explore to have the desire to settle down when he finds ‘the one.’
