Calling all Virgin River fans! We have an exciting new update to share about season six of the Netflix series. (Hint: It has to do with the show’s return date.)
During the Netflix Q2 2024 Earnings Interview, Netflix’s CEO Ted Sarandos officially confirmed that Virgin River season six will be coming to a small screen near you in late 2024.
“Just before the end of this year we’ve got Squid Game’s return, Emily in Paris’s return, a new season of Selling Sunset, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Diplomat, Virgin River, Love is Blind, Ryan Murphy has an incredible new season of Monsters. That’s all just coming up before the end of the year,” Sarandos revealed in the interview. (OK, so we may not have an exact release date, but it is something, right?)
Back in February, Netflix confirmed that production for Virgin River season six had officially begun. Along with a photo of Virgin River stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson (who play Melina and Jack, respectively) holding up film clapboards, the caption read, “It’s official! Virgin River season 6 is back in production!”
Just weeks ahead of the season five premiere, Netflix announced that Virgin River would be returning for a sixth season. In a past interview with Deadline, Jinny Howe (Netflix’s Head Of Drama and Development) teased that the story would continue beyond season five. At the time, she said, “I think we definitely see more longevity and growth with the show. As long as the audience asks for it and shows up—and I think we see with season four that the fandom is very strong and growing in many places as well—it feels like based on what we’re seeing with season four and the anticipation for season five that there is a lot more storytelling to offer us.”
We’ll be sure to keep our eyes peeled for more Virgin River season six updates!
