Bridgerton Cast: Everything You Need to Know

Bridgerton Cast: Everything You Need to Know

From their past roles to their off-screen dating lives, here’s what you need to know about the cast of Netflix’s Bridgerton The cast is the talk of the high society.

Based on the best-selling series of novels by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton follows the love lives of the eight Bridgerton siblings as they navigate the complicated marriage season of Regency London. The Bridgertons’ respected families in London’s upper class and their romantic pursuits are seen through the lens of a mysterious gossip columnist, Lady Whistledown (voiced by none other than Julie Andrews). When the Shonda Rhimes-produced series first debuted on Netflix in late 2020, it broke records, streaming to more than 82 million households in its first few weeks of release.

While season 3 will change the order of the books and instead focus on the sweet romance between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), the creative team behind Bridgerton intends to tell the story of each sibling.

“My goal has always been to focus on a different Bridgerton sibling each season, and it’s no secret that there are eight Bridgerton siblings,” series creator Chris Van Dusen told Entertainment Tonight in 2022. “We’ll keep going as long as Netflix lets us, but I’d love to focus on each of those eight Bridgerton siblings and tell romantic stories for all of them.”

The period romance will release its first spin-off, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, in May 2023. In addition to several new cast members, the series will see the return of Golda Rosheuval as Queen Charlotte, Adjoa Andoh as Lady Agatha Danbury, and Ruth Gemmell as Lady Violet Bridgerton.

REGÉ-JEAN PAGE as SIMON BASSET in Bridgerton

Here’s everything you need to know about the cast of Bridgerton.

Regé-Jean Page as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings The Duke of Hastings is portrayed by Regé-Jean Page. The reserved and upright Simon has returned to England to settle his late father’s affairs and has no intention of finding a wife—until he falls for Daphne Bridgerton after the two use a fake dating scheme.

But for Page, Simon means more than romance and nobility. When it comes to his character riding a horse, he spoke about the positive impact of casting diverse actors in period dramas like Bridgerton.

“Horse riding really puts people in a place of aspiration, power, ability and agency that they haven’t had before,” he told British GQ in 2021. “It’s ridiculous. That we’re not creative enough in the creative industries — that’s a failure. But as soon as you start doing it? It’s like, ‘This is easy!’ Yeah, it’s easy, so keep doing it.”

Page, who grew up between Zimbabwe and the UK, began acting as a child, landing his first “role” as the Little Drummer Boy in his school’s nativity play. He began his professional acting career in 2001 as Tanaka in Gimme 6; followed by roles in Waterloo Road, Roots, and For the People. Since Bridgerton, he’s starred in Netflix’s action drama The Gray Man and will appear in the 2023 film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

The actor is also reportedly in the running to be the next James Bond — but Page himself has remained mum on those rumors.

“That’s a conversation people are having, and it’s an honor that they’re talking about it,” he told Vanity Fair in 2023. “I’ll leave it to them to decide.”

The actor left Bridgerton after season 1. “I signed up to do one job and I did that job and then I did some other jobs,” he said. “That’s the story. I wish it was sexier than that.” It doesn’t look like he’ll be returning anytime soon, telling Variety that he would welcome the Shondaland team to recast his role.

Page has been linked to copywriter and soccer player Emily Brown since 2019. The two first sparked romance rumors when they were spotted kissing in February 2021, but they’ve been notoriously private about their relationship.

Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton Despite being the fourth Bridgerton child, Daphne, played by Phoebe Dynevor, was the first to hit the marriage market in season 1 of Bridgerton. A romantic and perfectly qualified newbie, Daphne was the season’s perfect “diamond” — until her protective brother Anthony’s intense scrutiny scared away most of her potential suitors. Luckily, Simon Basset needed Daphne just as much as she needed him — or, well, burned for him.

But don’t think of Daphne as a typical Regency-era wife and mother.
