One story that began in Virgin River season 1 finally concluded in the second part of season 5, much to the audience’s happiness. The final two (Christmas-inspired) episodes of the Netflix romantic drama television show’s fifth season premiered on November 30, and they answered many questions that were left unanswered following the finale of part 1. Additionally, part 2 set the stage for Virgin River season 6, which was greenlit by Netflix ahead of the season 5 premiere. But before anyone can look ahead to the next ten episodes of the popular series, viewers need time to break down the last two episodes.
Following the handful of cliffhangers from the part 1 finale, Virgin River season 5, part 2 picked up where the previous episode left off. Mel was still stewing over the revelation that the man she thought was her biological father actually wasn’t. Lizzie confirmed she was pregnant with Denny’s baby, much to her mother’s dismay. Charmaine came clean about the father of her twins, and one of her long-standing storylines that was frustrating to no end was finally resolved in episode 12.
Charmaine gave birth to her twins in Virgin River season 5, episode 12, after getting pregnant in season 1. As fans recall, Charmaine learned she was expecting near the end of the first season, and since she had a friend-with-benefits relationship with Jack, she told him he was the father. Of course, that caused plenty of tension between Jack and Mel, but Jack informed Charmaine that he would support her and the baby (without resuming their relationship). Charmaine later discovered she was having twins, and she came clean to Jack about the paternity of her babies — a man whom she had a one-night stand with was the father, not Jack.
Multiple seasons and episodes went by without Charmaine giving birth, and it seemed as if she would be pregnant until the Virgin River series finale. However, the season 5, part 2 finale finally ended Charmaine’s pregnancy storyline when Mel delivered her twin boys on Christmas Eve (after learning Calvin was the father). Even though four years have passed in the real world between the time Charmaine found out she was pregnant in season 1 and her giving birth in season 5, only about six months have gone by within the Netflix show’s world.
