Donald Trump announces he’ll sit down for ‘major’ interview with Elon Musk

Former president Donald Trump announced Tuesday on Truth Social that he’s agreed to sit down with tech mogul and outspoken right-winger Elon Musk for an interview.

“On Monday night, I’ll be doing a major interview with Elon Musk-Details to Follow,” he wrote. Ever since Musk bought X, which was formerly known as Twitter, he has shoved his right-wing ideologies down every user’s throat. His views often coincide with those of Trump, who he has repeatedly endorsed.

The attempt on the former president’s life last month seemingly galvanized Musk’s support for a second Trump term. He quickly flocked to the former president and his running mate J.D Vance of Ohio. He wrote: “I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery” the day of the shooting.

The tech mogul’s overt support of a single presidential candidate is quite unusual as other big names in the industry have refrained from such actions. Musk’s actions online suggests he is trying to veer one of the most influential platforms on social media right-the first instance was reinstating the former president’s account after it was banned for offensive content.

Other giants in the social media space, such as Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg, have avoided blatantly announcing their political affiliation.

Musk’s support has seemingly been welcomed by the Trump campaign, which has allegedly been receiving about $45 million donations per month for a Super Pac whose goal is to get him re-elected.

For months, the former president has denounced any mention of an electric car initiative aimed at lowering greenhouse gasses. His criticism was especially sharp when a policy proposed by US President Joe Biden made its way in to the conversation. He’s said outrageous things about supporters of such a plan, including how they should “rot in hell” and are living in a world of “lunacy.”
