What’s New with Virgin River Season 6: Production updates and upcoming releases

Fans of Virgin River have a lot to look forward to with the upcoming sixth season. Martin Henderson, who plays Jack Sheridan, recently shared some exciting news about the new episodes. According to Henderson, the show is currently in post-production, meaning that the new season is getting close to being ready for viewers.

In a recent Instagram post, Henderson gave fans a sneak peek behind the scenes. He shared a selfie from the recording booth, with a screen showing a scene featuring his character Jack Sheridan and Mel Monroe, played by Alexandra Breckenridge. Henderson’s post suggested that the team is working hard to get everything just right for Season 6.

The new season will have 10 episodes and will include a time jump from the holidays. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith has hinted that this season will delve deeper into the characters’ stories, especially focusing on Everett Reid, Mel’s biological father. Reid was introduced during the Christmas specials, and this season will explore his background and his connection to Virgin River.

In addition to the upcoming season, there’s news about a prequel that is in the works. This spin-off will focus on the romance between Mel’s late mother, Sarah, and her biological father, Everett Reid. Announced earlier this year, the prequel will provide more background on these characters. Details about the plot and cast are still to come.

Also, Alexandra Breckenridge has teamed up with Zibby Allen, who plays Jack’s younger sister Brie Sheridan, for a new podcast titled I Like You Very Much. The podcast, which started in June, offers fans another way to engage with the cast and learn more about their projects.

While there is no exact release date for Season 6 yet, fans can catch up on the previous seasons as all five are available for streaming on Netflix. With the production updates and prequel news, there’s plenty to look forward to in the Virgin River universe.
