Gordon Ramsay’s wife Tana reveals first impression of ‘arrogant’ chef aged 18

Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana were childhood sweethearts when they met when they were 26 and 18 respectively.
Although their fairytale romance has included two weddings and five children spanning more than two decades, Tana admits it wasn’t love at first sight. The Home Made by author Tana Ramsay, 49, said the celebrity chef, 56, appeared “very arrogant” with a “larger than life” personality when they met.
The couple married in December 1996 in Chelsea, London, with Tana stepping out in a V-neck satin wedding dress and a flared skirt. Gordon and Tana have welcomed five children: Megan, 24, twins Jack and Holly, 22, Matilda, 20, and Oscar, who turned three in April. Tana also sadly suffered a miscarriage in 2016, when she was five months pregnant.
Looking back on their family life, Tana says they moved from home to a modest two-bedroom apartment when they first got married so they could afford to open Gordon Ramsay Restaurants in 1998.
“We moved into a tiny two-bedroom apartment. Then I got pregnant with twins and we were in a flat that literally had no space to swing a cat. But that was OK because it didn’t make you happy,” she recalls.
Following Gordon’s successful career, they now own two stunning homes in London and L.A. The Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares star joked that his older kids are “annoying” about the amount of time he and Tana are spending with their youngest son, who will be filming with them in the US.
“The three of us are always together and it annoys the other four,” he said. “We’re like, ‘Hey, you’ve had time with your parents! It’s Oscar time.'”
However, Tana made it clear that Gordon misses his kids just as much, adding that when they’re apart, “Gordon likes to call [the kids] like 25 times a day.”
