Bob Saget’s death sent shockwaves through Hollywood as stars reacted to the news.
On Sunday, January 9, the 65-year-old actor was found unresponsive in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando and pronounced dead at the scene.
Saget’s Full House co-stars John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure and Dave Coulier expressed their disbelief and sadness on social media, while Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen released a statement.
Stamos wrote he was ‘gutted,’ Bure called the comedic actor ‘one of the best human beings I’ve ever known,’ Coulier said his ‘heart was broken,’ and the Olsen twins said they were ‘deeply saddened.’
‘I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock. I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much Bobby,’ wrote Stamos.
Bure wrote ‘I don’t know what to say. I have no words. Bob was one of the best humans beings I’ve ever known in my life. I loved him so much,’ with the heartbreak emoji.
‘My heart is broken. I love you, Bob. Your forever brother, Dave,’ Coulier wrote.
‘Bob was the most loving, compassionate and generous man,’ Mary-Kate and Ashley said in a statement obtained by Page Six.
‘We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us but know that he will continue to be by our side to guide us as gracefully as he always has. We are thinking of his daughters, wife and family and are sending our condolences,’ they concluded.
Saget had come to be known as ‘America’s dad’ as he played Danny Tanner on Full House from 1987 to 1995.
The Olsen twins played the shared role of Saget’s daughter Michelle Tanner, while Bure played his eldest daughter DJ. And Stamos played his brother-in-law Jessie while Coulier played best friend Joey.
Andrea Barber, who played Kimmy Gibbler on Full House and its sequel series, shared a sweet still from Fuller House of herself hugging Saget to mark his death.
‘This one hurts,’ she began her lengthy caption. ‘He had the biggest heart of anyone in Hollywood. He gave the biggest hugs. I am gutted that I will never be able to hug him again.
‘Bob ended every text, every interaction with “Love you.” Didn’t matter how long or short we’d been apart. He loved so deeply and so fiercely,’ she continued. ‘And he never hesitated to tell you just how much you meant to him. This is the greatest lesson I learned from Bob Saget — don’t hesitate to tell people you love them. I feel at peace knowing that Bob knew exactly how much I adore him.’
She concluded: ‘Rest well, my dear friend. I have no doubt you are making everyone in Heaven laugh until their cheeks hurt, just as you did here on Earth ❤️.’
