Gordon Ramsay Cycles With Son Oscar, 5, for First Time Since Horror Crash: ‘It’s Great to Be Back’

Gordon Ramsay is back on his bike!

On Sunday, July 14, the MasterChef star, 57, shared a video on Instagram of himself cycling with his 5-year-old son Oscar. He returned to the bike nearly a year after being injured in a cycling accident in June.

“It’s great to be back on the bike, thank you,” Ramsay wrote in the caption. He tagged indoor cycling company Zwift for his workout earlier in his “recovery” journey.

In the first video, Ramsay films himself cycling along a riverbank. He then pans the camera across the street and asks, “Where is he?” Oscar appears, riding a blue bike next to him and wearing a helmet.

“There he is!” Ramsay exclaimed. “By the way, you’re doing great,” he told Oscar.

The restaurant owner then ran through a safety checklist with his son as he asked him, “Helmet on, gears intact, okay?” Oscar replied, “Okay!” Ramsay then asked, “Eyes on the road, okay?” Oscar called back, “Okay!”

“Good boy… run,” Ramsay said, pointing the camera at himself. “It’s great to be back on a bike,” he said as Oscar whizzed past him.

As his five-year-old continued to ride, Ramsay joked, referring to his eldest daughter, Megan, 26, who is a police officer.

“Slow down, the police will catch you speeding,” Ramsay joked to Oscar. “Please don’t get caught speeding. Your sister won’t be impressed.”

Ramsay revealed he was injured while biking in Connecticut in an Instagram post on June 15. He said he was “truly shocked” by the incident and that he was “lucky to be here,” as he showed off severe bruising to his ribs from his injury in an accompanying video.

“I’m in pain. It’s been a horrible week. And I’m getting through it. But I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet,” he said at the time.

The father of six shared that he suffered no broken bones, adding that he was “grateful” to have been wearing a helmet during the incident because it “saved my life.”

“I don’t care how short the ride was. I don’t care, you know, the fact that these helmets cost money… they’re important,” Ramsay continued. “Even for kids, a short trip, they have to wear a helmet.”
