Gordon Ramsay Fans Are Fighting With Him About How to Make Eggs

Gordon Ramsay has a resume that speaks for itself: eight Michelin stars, more TV shows than we can count, and nearly 90 restaurants and grocery stores around the world. So when it comes to making something as simple as eggs, the man knows what he’s doing—even if his technique is a little unconventional for fans.

So how exactly does the Hell’s Kitchen host make this breakfast classic? When it comes to fried eggs, Ramsay swears there are a few tricks to getting the “perfect” result.

He starts by adding olive oil to a pan and cracking an egg on top with a little salt and pepper, before turning up the heat and letting it sit. He then adds a few pats of butter, browning the top of the egg as it foams. Finally, he takes the pan off the heat and serves the finished product.

Fans weren’t exactly impressed with his technique, however.

“Damn, there’s so much oil on the eggs that the US is trying to invade,” joked one user.

Another added, “I will never agree with the way Gordon cooks his eggs.”

And it’s not just the oil that’s an issue. One person also criticized his use of butter, writing, “looks good but too much butter.”

Unfortunately, Ramsay’s fried eggs had a similar effect on fans. In another clip, Gordon shared that his “secret” to getting the perfect batch of eggs is to turn the pan on and off so they don’t get too hot. He also doesn’t whisk the eggs before cooking because it “makes the whole thing gooey.”

The celebrity chef adds a few “cubes of butter,” like his fried egg recipe, and uses a spoon to start stirring. After 60 seconds, he removed the eggs from the heat and continued to stir the mixture before returning them to the stove on a lower heat. Ramsay also added a little sour cream (to keep them from overcooking) and seasonings before serving the “light and fluffy” breakfast.

“All I see is a lot of unfinished stuff,” one TikTok commenter wrote. “How do you not make fried eggs?” another joked.

“They’re not done Gordon 😕,” a third user wrote, while another said they could make a “better” version themselves.

Hey, at least they liked his Eggs Benedict recipe—with “perfectly seasoned” poached eggs and warm hollandaise sauce. One fan even said, “Watching him cook is like watching Bob Ross paint.”
