Tonight’s ‘MasterChef: Generations’ Results: Who Survived Nights 4 and 5 of the Elimination Round?

Nights 4 and 5 of MasterChef: Generations returned after a brief hiatus and picked up right where the cooking competition left off, with generations—Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials and Gen Z—taking on each other in a bid to be crowned champion.

Wednesday night kicked off with “Birthday Bakes,” a return to the individual challenge, in which Gordon Ramsay challenged the remaining home cooks to bake the best two-layer birthday cake of their lives.

As the winning team captain in the final challenge, Anna—a Millennial—was given a generation to mix the cake by hand with a whisk instead of using her Cuisinart stand mixer. She chose Generation Z because, after teaming up with the Baby Boomers and finding them helpful in winning the last challenge, she couldn’t do it with them. Plus, all five members of Team Generation Z were still in the competition.

The second hour—episode 5—was the Mystery Box challenge, which took each generation back to their childhood memories and the iconic ingredients of that era. The challenge was to make a MasterChef-worthy dish using those ingredients.

As the Immunity Badge holder, Becca of Generation Z got to choose which generation would cook with which box. She gave the Millennial box to her generation, Generation Z; the Millennials were given the Baby Boomer box; Generation X got the Generation X Mystery Box; and Generation Z got the Baby Boomer box.

The additional instructions were that they had to use at least four ingredients and could supplement from a limited pantry to help turn the ingredients into a MasterChef-worthy dish.
