Bridgerton Cast: Everything You Need to Know About the Stars of Netflix’s Hottest New Series

What if, dear readers, the show’s prim and proper characters had iPhones? Luckily for us, they do — in real life, of course. Here, Bazaar shares a comprehensive look at some of the leading ladies and gentlemen…

The Regency era of satin opera gloves and sparkling tiaras has blossomed in the colorful world of Bridgerton, Netflix’s latest period drama.

Based on Julia Quinn’s The Bridgerton Series novels, the show has become one of the streaming platform’s most popular series to date, with 63 million views and counting. Dubbed the Gossip Girl of a bygone era, the narrator (voiced by Julie Andrews) appears as a mysterious character named Lady Whistledown, whose gossip spreads through the society papers and is the talk of the town.

Executive producers Chris Van Dusen and Shonda Rhimes breathe life into the old-world dialogue and playful historical fashions. One of the most refreshing aspects of the show is its diverse cast, which brings us to a life that is not racially defined. Sometimes bold (enough to make Jane Austen blush) and harsh when it comes to the ideals of marriage for a young woman in the early 1800s, Bridgerton is your exclusive invitation to glamorous balls and dreamy settings. A perfect world to get lost in and meet the series’ charming characters, via Instagram…

Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton)

Deemed the “Diamond of the Season,” Phoebe plays Daphne, a young woman inducted into London’s high society, the first of her three sisters. After receiving high marks from the Queen herself, Daphne must navigate gossip while simply trying to fall in love and live happily ever after. A feat that never comes easy. We can only hope!

Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings)
Page’s character is the most handsome but unconventional suitor. A strange past hangs over him like a dark cloud. As the newly crowned Duke of Hastings after his father’s death, he must decide whether his heart or his pride is worth saving. Most recently, Page dispelled the rumors on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon after the internet called for the British-Zimbabwean actor to be the next James Bond. Page responded, “The internet thinks a lot of things, and that’s one of the most pleasant things.”

Jonathan Bailey (Anthony Bridgerton)
Bailey plays the eldest Bridgerton son, a Viscount who has no interest in marriage and responsibility. If Netflix picks up the show, the next season of Bridgerton could feature Anthony as the main character—allowing us to delve deeper into the psyche of one of the series’ most enigmatic characters. Something tells me there’s more to the story than that.
Ruby Barker (Marina Thompson)
The newcomer speaks the truth; Marina is a woman in love, with a secret of her own. Barker plays her emotions beautifully—treading between vulnerability and strength seamlessly on screen. Barker describes the role as a “dream come true.”

Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington)
The youngest and seemingly most normal of the Featheringtons, Coughlan plays a young woman whose unrequited love for one of the Bridgerton boys leaves her wanting more. Luckily for her, true friendship comes in the form of Eloise, a loyal confidante as they try to discover the real Lady Whistledown. The Irish actress recently celebrated her birthday by reminiscing about her Bridgerton days.
