Add this show to your primetime viewing list. CBS’s Tracker cast is full of familiar faces, and we’re not just talking about Justin Hartley, a former cast member of The Young and the Restless.
Tracker is a CBS action-drama series that follows Colter Shaw, a “lone survivor” who travels across the United States as a “bounty seeker” who helps people and law enforcement solve various mysteries through his expert tracking skills. The series, which premieres on February 11, 2024, after Super Bowl LIX, is based on the book series The Never Game by Jeffrey Deaver.
Justin Hartley, who both plays Colter and serves as an executive producer on Tracker, told TV Insider in January 2024 how his character is different from and similar to his notable role as Kevin Pearson on NBC’s This Is Us. “I bring a little bit of Kevin into this role,” he said. “This is an action thriller, and Colter’s situation is completely different. You have the father and the question of what happened there. You have the family tragedy, you have questions that don’t have answers. I think if you put Kevin in Colter’s boots, he would die in a day. But that doesn’t mean they don’t have the same heart.” He also noted the differences between the flashbacks in Tracker and This Is Us. “The flashbacks in the first episode are necessary to tell a brief story, like, ‘Here’s where this guy is,’” he said. “We’re going to move away from them a little bit as the series goes on.”
Hartley teased Colter’s journey in Tracker. “He’s searching for answers to that question. He’s a troubled guy, and we’re going to reveal that throughout the season, about his childhood,” he said. “We’re going to dive deeper into his relationships with his mother, his father, his brother, all of that.”
He also touched on whether he felt any “pressure” about Tracker coming out after the Super Bowl. “The more people say, ‘Is there pressure?’ the more I feel like maybe I should start feeling pressure,” he said. “But like the This Is Us pilot. I know it’s really, really good and it’s something I’m going to remember for the rest of my life. That’s how I feel about it. I know our show is great and that’s all you can do.”
But of course, Hartley, who fans will remember as Fox Crane on Passions and Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless, isn’t the only familiar face in Tracker. Meet the entire cast of Tracker and see why the stars of CBS’s exciting new drama look so familiar.
