The show has been in the works for a long time, with the pilot having been delivered to CBS in November 2022. However, Reisenbach told Deadline in January 2024 that she opted to delay the show’s debut to the 2023-2024 season to allow for more time to promote it.

“It was a great pilot and we said, okay, we’re not going to air it this season,” she told the outlet. “Maybe in previous years, we would have said, okay, we have the pilot in November, let’s air it in the spring. We said, let’s save it for next season.”
