Justin Hartley Talks About His Wife Being His Lover on ‘Tracker’ and Making Him ‘Dirty’

Justin Hartley is especially fond of his latest co-star — his real-life wife! ET’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner chatted with the 47-year-old actor in Las Vegas on Friday, and he teased Sofia Pernas’ involvement in his new series, Tracker.

Hartley, who plays Colter, a survivor who helps track people down, said Pernas plays a woman “back from his past” on the show.

“She’s a lover from his past,” he told ET. “They’ve worked together as well, and she has a similar skill set and a similar lifestyle, although she’s more tech-oriented.”

As for why things didn’t work out between the characters the first time around, Hartley said, “She did him dirty in the past, so they broke up.”

Working with Pernas, who he married in 2021, had some perks, as Hartley joked about the PDA scenes, “I just built a few scenes that weren’t in the script.”

Hartley is happy to have found that love in real life, telling ET, “It’s awesome, it’s liberating, and it’s just a great place to be.”

Hartley is in Las Vegas to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. Travis Kelce, a linebacker for his former team, also knows a thing or two about love, as his romance with Taylor Swift was highly publicized.

“They look like two people who are in love. I don’t know anything about it other than that, so I’m happy for them. I’m happy for anybody who finds love,” Hartley said. “I think that’s the greatest thing, finding someone you can share this life with, go through life with, share experiences with, and hopefully grow old together and tell stories. I just think there’s nothing better than that.”

Regardless of whether Kelce and the Chiefs win or not, Hartley hopes that, after the big game, viewers will tune in to watch his new show.

“I’m so excited about it. It’s been a long time coming. Ken Olin and I built this show from the ground up years ago, even before This Is Us finished filming our final season. We’ve been doing this for years, through a pandemic, a strike, etc. [Now] it’s just a few days away. It’s pretty exciting,” he told ET of Tracker. “… We poured our hearts into this and started working on this, which seems like a long time ago. It’s definitely a labor of love… I’m really proud of it and excited to finally have a chance for people to see it.” Tracker premieres Sunday on CBS right after the Super Bowl.
