Matilda, aka Tilly Ramsay, grew up in a luxurious £8.5 million mansion in Wandsworth, south London, with four siblings – two sisters and two brothers. He may scream obscenities at you in the kitchen, but Gordon Ramsay, the father, is the complete opposite of a chef! “A lot of people think Dad is this scary, screaming guy because they’ve seen him on TV,” says Tilly. “But really, as soon as you meet him or are in the same room with him, you realise he’s actually a softie – he’s like a teddy bear. All he wants to do is have fun and play. Yes, when he’s focused in the kitchen, he can be assertive and tell you what to do. But I guess everyone in the work space is like that – he’s not like that.” Hilariously, the Ramsay patriarch was banned from Tilly’s parent-teacher conference for taking a selfie with the headmaster. Tilly calls her dad her best friend. She wrote, ‘Happy birthday to my best friend!! Thank you dad for everything you do, I wouldn’t be the person I am without you, I love you so much. ‘

They don’t work hard enough to afford that. At that age, at that size, you’re telling me they need to sit first class? No they don’t. We’re really strict about that,” he said. The Ramsays are also strict about their daily routine and limiting screen time.

Growing up Growing up, Tilly and her siblings were expected to perform specific chores around the house, including setting the table and cleaning up after dinner. “They clean up after every dinner,” Gordon explains. “It’s a system.
