ABC has renewed the drama “9-1-1” for an eighth season

ABC renewed the series “9-1-1” for an eighth season even before the finale of the seventh part. No wonder the channel made the decision so quickly: in one week, the premiere of the seventh season gathered 11.76 million viewers and became the highest-rated program of the channel for almost two years. Also “9-1-1” became the most watched ABC series this season.

The project tells about the hard and stressful work of police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and dispatchers responding to calls for help. Employees of these emergency services have to combine saving people with solving their own problems.

The previous six seasons of the series aired on Fox, but last year the channel announced the show’s closure. Soon the project of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk was re-bought by ABC. The channel recently launched production on another Murphy show, the medical procedural Dr. Odyssey, starring Joshua Jackson (“Fringe”, “Dawson’s Creek”).
