Don’t Miss a Second! Here’s How to Watch the “9-1-1” Season 8 Premiere Live

You would not bee-lieve your eyes if 10 million fireflies 22 million killer bees wreaked havoc on the 118. Cause they’d fill the LA air and spread Bee-nado fear everywhere. You’d think 9-1-1 fans rude but we will just sit and stare.

If you’ve spent the last four months trying to make yourselves bee-lieve that 9-1-1 Season 8 would arrive despite the days moving slowly, you’re about to light up like fireflies, because premiere day is finally here.

While the first episode of the season is called “Buzzkill,” fans of the hit ABC drama see the highly-anticipated return as anything but. For those who have yet to learn about the new mind-boggling disaster disaster that awaits, 9-1-1 Season 8’s official premiere synopsis is as follows: “The 118 team battles an ‘un-bee-lievable’ emergency when a trailer with millions of bees crashes on the streets of Los Angeles, unleashing a swarm.”

Though bees may not sound like a particularly big deal compared to other major disasters like a capsized cruise ship or a tsunami, the swarm is reportedly powerful enough to kill 44,000 people, so the 118 has their work cut out for them. Plus, they’re down Captain Nash and up Captain Gerrard, so they’re technically battling two disasters.

What Will 9-1-1 Season 8 Be About Like? Stars Ryan Guzman And Peter Krause Weigh In

In true 9-1-1 fashion, the series will continue exploring the personal and professional lives of the show’s core characters and undoubtedly feature more wacky and intense emergencies post-Bee-nado. In terms of major storylines we know Bobby and Athena will be house hunting after their home burned down, Hen and Karen will be trying to get Mara back, and Eddie will be adjusting to life without Christopher. Based on the Season 7 finale cliffhanger, we can also assume the 118 will be adjusting to their new captain.

“It was a bit of a storytelling leap,” Peter Krause told Decider over Zoom when asked about Captain Gerrard taking control of the 118. “I’m sure it’s not going to be an immediately easy road for Bobby to regain the captainship of the 118. I have faith that he will.”

As for his hopes for Bobby and Athena, Krause wants to see a continuation of Bathena’s honeymoon. “I would like to see Athena and Bobby go on an RV trip. I just feel like after The Poseidon Adventure episodes that there’s still some honeymoon that they haven’t completed yet. And I think that somehow on an RV trip, what could go wrong?” Krause laughed.

During Decider’s finale interview with Ryan Guzman, the 9-1-1 actor also shared his predictions and hopes for the future of Eddie, Christopher, and the 118. With Christopher gone, “That leaves Eddie in new territory, which can be scary on both spectrums of life,” Guzman said. “Is he going to go back into the craziness of beating his walls and going nuts and losing himself? Or is he going to choose something that we’ve never seen in these past seven seasons? My hope is the latter, obviously. But if the first one comes, that’ll be interesting as an actor.”

Guzman also teased more about Eddie’s relationship with religion and possible scenes with his family (the long lost sisters!) but as for the 118, he said, “We know Gerrard is the worst version of human. So I think Season 8 is, to say the least, going to be difficult navigating, because there won’t be that open family atmosphere. I won’t be coming to Cap for my problems. It’ll be a handle it on your own situation. So that might actually propel Eddie to start to handle these issues by himself again and be seeking out Cap in a way that he never has before. It’s gonna be a lot of variables now with Gerrard, and I think it changes the whole scope of what the 118 is.”
