The NCIS: Hawai’i cast has reunited for one last hurrah after the beloved TV series was abruptly canceled.
Two weeks ago, CBS axed the drama before the Season 3 finale even aired, leaving fans raging and the series with a cliffhanger ending.
NCIS: Hawai’i was canceled in late April, leaving fans and its cast heartbroken.
The news that Season 4 would not happen also came just a month after the Season 3 finale was filmed.
No one thought the season finale would be its last episode, so fans were left with loose ends and the cast didn’t get to say goodbye.
On Friday, much of the cast reunited on a beach at sunset to be together one more time.
They celebrated their bond and professed their love for the island they have called home and a workplace for over three years.
The group photo included Vanessa Lachey (who starred as Jane Tennant), Tori Anderson (Kate), Jason Antoon (Ernie) and his wife Seana Kofoed (Dr. Chase).
They each shared Instagram stories chronicling the oceanside gathering, including plus-ones like Vannessa’s husband Nick Lachey.
‘WE LOVE YOU HAWAII!’
“We love U Hawai’i’…. We really REALLY LOVE You!” Vanessa wrote Lachey alongside snaps.
They showed her with Nick and with other cast members – all while the sunset unfolded in the distance.
Vannessa also gave shout-outs to the original cast members who were unavailable for the reunion.
She wrote, “‘To my favorite Kiwi,” (referring to Alex Tarrant, who played Kai).
“And to our Yas!” (as in Yasmine Al-Bustami, who played Lucy).
‘WHAT DO WE DO NOW?’
The bombshell news came on April 26 that the NCIS would not be returning.
Usually, shows are canceled between seasons, so the news was especially brutal.
The series starred Vanessa and LL Cool J, who also appeared in NCIS: Los Angeles.
In the three seasons, the show aired only 54 episodes which made it the shortest NCIS series.
Vanessa, after taking time to process the news, took to Instagram on May 1 to share a video by the ocean where the pilot was filmed.
“As I sat here today, knowing our show is over, I turned to [the ocean] again [asking] what do we do now,” she wrote.
“She answered with ease. Just as the air hits the water & the water hits the land, the waves connect to the shore, some with a huge impact, then… it goes back out.
“You see… we aren’t meant to be here forever, we are on borrowed time. We appreciate what was given to us for our use, we nurture it and then we leave it better for the next dreamer.”
“I wish we had more time, I’m sorry we don’t. I wish we had a proper good-bye, I’m sorry we didn’t,” she added.
“I know we ALL are connected deeper than any TV show.”

At the end of the episode, Sam Hanna (LL Cool J)’s team threw him a going away party in Hawaii.
The team toasted him and all of the fallen agents who were sadly killed off.
When Jane Tennant (Vanessa) returned home, she expected to find her daughter, Julie, there, waiting for her.
Instead, Maggie Shaw (guest star Julie White) was sitting on her couch, sipping on a drink.
Maggie was a former agent with the CIA and a friend and mentor to Jane.
She first appeared in Season 1 and was only seen again on the Season 3 finale.
“No, Janey. Julie isn’t here,” Maggie said, as Jane entered the room.
“And you’re probably going to need a drink for what’s coming next….”
The screen then panned to Jane who looked worried and faded to black and rolled the credits, so fans will never get to know what comes next.
‘SO CONFUSED!’
Fans took to X, formerly Twitter, furious at the cliffhanger series finale.
“‘Julie isn’t here and you’re probably gonna need a drink for what’s coming next!’ I’m flinging myself off a cliff!” one person raged.
“We need a season 4!” said another.
“It’s not a series finale, just a season finale. Give us a proper send off,” another fan pleaded.
“I’m so confused because the ending of that NCIS: Hawaii episode is telling me… another season? Because that cliffhanger!?? Maybe it’s not cancelled? Enough people complained hopefully lol,” said another.
“Oh. It’s not over. Not even close,” another fan tweeted.
‘SAVE NCIS!’
NCIS: Hawaii, which premiered in 2021, had middling ratings for CBS.
Plus the announcement of the spinoff series, NCIS: Origins, was likely the push the network needed to axe Hawai’i.

However, a #SaveNCISHawaii campaign (complete with Times Square billboard) has been put into place, which Vanessa and the other cast members have backed on social media.
