Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore are prominent figures in the The Real Housewives of Atlanta universe, and Porsha and Kenya’s season 6 feud was one for the ages. Originally joining The Real Housewives of Atlanta in season 5, Porsha was known at the time for being the wife of former NFL player Kordell Stewart. Over the years, Porsha evolved from a naive housewife to an outspoken powerhouse, especially after divorcing Kordell in 2013. She appeared on the show from seasons 5 through 13 and remains a popular cast member throughout the best Real Housewives of Atlanta seasons.
Conversely, Kenya was a former Miss USA winner who also joined in season 5, quickly stirring the pot among the cast. Her most notable relationship on The Real Housewives of Atlanta was with Marc Daly, with whom she shares a daughter, Brooklyn. Kenya has also evolved and come to the forefront over ten seasons on the show. However, arguably one of the most explosive parts of Porsha and Kenya’s reality TV story centers around their iconic feud. Ahead of Porsha and Kenya’s return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16, it’s time to revisit their relationship.
Kenya Wanted To Outshine Porsha
She Needed To Come Out On Top
Kenya and Porsha’s feud began innocently enough, with a comment from Porsha taken the wrong way by Kenya. Porsha mistakenly referred to Kenya as Miss America rather than Miss USA, but the damage was already done. For whatever reason, Kenya viewed her standing as Miss USA as higher than that of Miss America and took Porsha’s mistake as a personal attack rather than a mistake. While it’s possible Porsha made the comment on purpose, it could also have just as easily been an accident.
Porsha and Kenya’s relationship was problematic from the start, with the two constantly attempting to outshine each other.
From that moment on, it seemed that Kenya was always trying to outshine Porsha and get back at her for the mistake. In an iconic The Real Housewives of Atlanta moment, Porsha opened up old wounds with Kenya, which sparked an argument. After Porsha called Kenya “ghetto,” the argument intensified. Kenya argued for her business prowess, twirling twice and declaring herself to be “Gone With the Wind fabulous, OK? Thank you.” Porsha and Kenya always had to one-up each other.
” Gone With the Wind fabulous, OK? Thank you. “
Their feud reached a boiling point when Kenya brought a scepter and bullhorn to The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 6. Always needing to outshine Porsha, she used the props to interrupt Porsha and not let her get a word in edgewise. Kenya dominated the conversation and belittled Porsha repeatedly, eventually culminating in a physical attack from Porsha. It’s one of the best Real Housewives franchise moments ever.
Porsha Was Demoted After Explosive Reunion Feud
Bravo Had To Denounce Physical Violence
Kenya provoked Porsha repeatedly during The Real Housewives of Atlanta seasons 5 and 6, but their feud became infamously explosive during the season 6 reunion. Kenya, using the megaphone, called Porsha a “dumb ho,” which was the last straw for Porsha. In response, she stood up and lunged at Kenya, grabbing her hair and pulling her to the ground. The attack shocked the cast and crew, and the reunion had to be paused as Porsha was escorted off set by security. Following the incident, Porsha regretted the hair-pulling but also felt Kenya had pushed her too far.
As a result of the fight, Porsha was briefly taken into police custody and charged with misdemeanor battery. Arguably, Kenya was in the wrong because she taunted and bullied Porsha, egging her on. However, Porsha probably took her anger too far by physically attacking Kenya. Porsha was tired of being humiliated and antagonized by Kenya and was pushed to her breaking point.
Unfortunately for Porsha, the incident caused her demotion on Real Housewives of Atlanta. In season 7, Porsha became a “friend of” the Housewives, while Kenya remained a full-time cast member. However, Porsha returned as a main cast member in season 7 and beyond.
Porsha & Kenya Disliked Each Other After The Reunion
Their Animosity Escalated
Unsurprisingly, Porsha and Kenya’s dislike for each other intensified after the explosive The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 6 reunion. The two had undoubtedly clashed over various issues, but the reunion brought their animosity to a head. The situation escalated when Kenya accused Porsha of cheating on her ex-husband, Kordell, and said that Porsha was his “beard,” insinuating that Kordell was gay.
The fight that ensued solidified Porsha and Kenya’s hatred. After the reunion, Porsha and Kenya’s relationship remained strained, with both continuing to take jabs at each other in the media and social media. Porsha’s demotion gave them some of the space they needed to heal, but the animosity was still palpable between the pair.
Porsha & Kenya Made Amends After They Had Their Daughters
Motherhood Brought Them Together
Motherhood brought Porsha and Kenya back together. The change in their dynamic began to unfold during The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 12. Both Porsha and Kenya gave birth to their daughters—Porsha welcomed her daughter, Pilar Jhena McKinley, in March 2019, and Kenya gave birth to her daughter, Brooklyn Doris Daly, in November 2018. They both became softened and empathetic to each other’s experiences.
During season 12, Porsha and Kenya shared moments of bonding over their experiences as new mothers. They attended each other’s events and were seen openly supporting one another in ways much different than their past animosity. Kenya attended Porsha’s charity event, and they had a heart-to-heart conversation where they acknowledged how their daughters had changed their perspectives on life. They both wanted to set more positive examples for their daughters.
What Is Porsha & Kenya’s Relationship Like Today?
They Will Reunite In Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16
According to ET, Kenya would welcome Porsha’s return as a The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 16 cast member, telling the source in February, “I would love that.” Porsha left at the end of The Real Housewives of Atlanta season 13 but will return for the next installment of the hit Bravo series. Since making up in season 12, Porsha and Kenya have largely buried the hatchet and moved on in their relationship. Kenya was fired from RHOA season 16, so fans will likely not see this duo’s new friendship unfold.
While it seemed that Kenya and Porsha’s relationship had no hope after the intense bullying, misunderstanding, and attacks from Real Housewives of Atlanta seasons 5 and 6, the two are a testament to the power of humility and growth. The two women have appeared on reality TV for over a decade, and both Porsha and Kenya showed a willingness to listen and acknowledge their mistakes. As a bonus, they also gave fans one of the most iconic reunion moments in The Real Housewives of Atlanta history.
