Since Love Is Blind season 7 premiered, it has seen some of the most interesting characters, including Stephen Richardson, who apparently was texting another lady when the cameras weren’t rolling. Monica, a 37-year-old sales executive, connected with Stephen, a 34-year-old electrician, through their incredible conversations about race and other aspects of life. They seemed perfect for each other. Monica admitted she previously went for physical connection first and cared to know where her past boyfriends had traveled and their credentials.
However, there were early signs of discord as soon as the twosome landed in Mexico for their honeymoon. Another problem was Stephen’s history with cheating, which Monica dismissed just because he’d brought the topic up and seemed contrite about the situation. Monica had given Stephen grace to be open about it with her and even told him he had been too hard on him. Perhaps one of the biggest red flags this Love Is Blind cast member shouldn’t have dismissed, and here’s why.
Stephen Was Texting Another Women While At A Sleep Test

Monica and Stephen’s romantic struggles were evident after leaving the Love Is Blind pods. He wasn’t living up to Monica’s standards of romance. It is hard to count the number of times Monica asked for flowers. To be fair, this Love Is Blind couple had discussed it in the pods, with Stephen promising to “bring her flowers” daily.
Fast-forward to after the vacation, the Love Blind experiment provided the contestants with a living space where they’d stay until they walked down the aisle. While there, Stephen and Monica discussed their sex life. Monica and Stephen relayed how much they enjoyed their intimate moments and more things to come in the future in that department. However, Stephen’s true colors camme out just a day later when he went to do an overnight sleep test.
“I did make a completely stupid mistake while being drunk at a sleep test with somebody who texted me. I know that it was a stupid decision.”
Monica was caught on camera confronting Stephen about it, calling the messages “disgusting.” She became more infuriated when Stephen claimed he’d only texted the lady in question after they had talked bout waiting to get intimate. Monica told Entertainment Weekly that she had discovered the texts by “total coincidence.”
The Love Is Blind duo was expecting Taylor Krause and her partner Garrett Josemans, who were dropping some baked goods for all Love Is Blind couples. Therefore, when Stephen’s phone lit up, Monica didn’t hesitate to take it, hoping to respond to Garrett’s message since Stephen was in the bathroom. To her surprise, it was a girl, and there were a bunch of text messages between them.
Monica Questioned The Validity Of The Sleep Test

A distraught Monica spoke with her friend Taylor, telling her that Stephen had gone for a sleep test the previous night. However, she wasn’t confident whether he was telling the truth. She confronted Stephen about it, but he maintained he had been at a sleep test (via Love Is Blind Netflix).
“Were you at a sleep test last night?”
Stephen said:
“Yeah”
To which Monica responded:
“Really? Well, I don’t know if I believe that.”
Stephen was in the room throughout Monica’s and Taylor’s conversation. So, Taylor left so that the couple could talk. Monica confronted Stephen about one text message “filled with fetishes.” Even though Monica wanted answers, Stephen provided none. Instead, he maintained that he’d been at a sleep test. Later, the Love Is Blind star implied that Monica’s intimacy pace pushed him to search for someone else.

The cheating scandal was a big blow to Monica, who had discussed her history of being cheated on previously while still in the pods. She had made it clear that infidelity was a hard line for her. Therefore, when this happened, Monica didn’t just break up with Stephen off camera and ensured their breakup was worth discussing on Love Is Blind. Stephen left the apartment, leaving Monica broken, with Taylor and Garret comforting her.
