The Office Sequel Series on Peacock Gets Title Revealed

A title has been revealed for the upcoming sequel series to The Office. As the show changes locations from a paper sales company to a traditional newspaper office, the new title seems to be fitting.

According to the Writer’s Guild of America page for Greg Daniels, who co-created the series with Michael Koman, the series has been titled The Paper. The listing also describes the sequel series as formerly known as “Daniels & Koman Untitled Project,” which further suggests that the series’ title of The Paper is a genuine title. However, it’s worth noting that this title hasn’t been officially announced as of this time, so it could still potentially be subject to change.

Developed by Daniels, the American version of The Office was inspired by the British series created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. That show focused on the employees of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton branch. The concept is that the new series sees the same documentary crew looking for another workplace to chronicle after the end of The Office, and they’ve chosen a struggling newspaper in the Midwest.

The Premise for the Sequel Series Has Been Revealed

The logline for the sequel series reads, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”

NBCUniversal Entertainment President Lisa Katz also said of the new show when it was officially announced, It’s been more than ten years since the final episode of The Office aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock. In partnership with Universal Television and led by the creative team of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, this new series set in the universe of Dunder Mifflin introduces a new cast of characters in a fresh setting ripe for comedic storytelling: a daily newspaper.”

It can be presumed that this new series will feature an ensemble cast, though only two names have been officially announced at this point. The series will star Domhnall Gleeson (About Time) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus). Production is expected to start in Summer 2024, so it is likely that The Paper will begin streaming on Peacock sometime in 2025.

As of now, a premiere date has not yet been announced for The Paper.
