Tracker Season 2 Plants the Seeds for a New Series

Given Tracker’s massive success, it wouldn’t be surprising if CBS ordered a spinoff, and the show laid out the perfect idea for one during the season 2 premiere. The action drama is based on Jeffery Dever’s 2019 book The Never Game. Its story follows Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw, an expert tracker (as the show’s name suggests) and survivalist, who is hired by private citizens and law enforcement agencies across the country. However, Colter has a team to help him, including Robin Weigert as Teddi Bruin, Abby McEnany as Velma Bruin, Eric Graise as Bobby Exley, and Fiona Rene as Reenie Greene.

Together, the Tracker characters solve cases every episode, while still dealing with personal issues, of course. One of the series’ central storylines revolves around the will-they/won’t-they romance between Colter and Reenie. The two characters have a romantic history, but Colter isn’t in a good place to date anyone. So, as of Tracker season 2, Colter and Reenie aren’t a couple. However, Reenie’s arc stretched outside her relationship with Colter during the season 2 premiere, and her new storyline could make for a great spinoff.

Reenie’s Budding Law Firm Is The Perfect First Spinoff For Tracker

Reenie Quit Her Job During The Tracker Season 1 Finale

The CBS show’s main (and only) attorney left her previous job during the Tracker season 1 finale, and when season 2 opens, Reenie is kick-starting her law firm. Reenie is an excellent attorney, after all, and she deserves to make her own rules. With Teddi’s absence, Velma joins Reenie on her new journey, and the two make for an excellent team in Tracker. Together, they take on cases and occasionally assist Colter with his work.

The Tracker season 2 premiere essentially lays the groundwork for the perfect spinoff featuring Reenie, Velma, and the new law office. Tracker mostly focuses on Colter and his adventures, anyway. So, it would be interesting for CBS to develop a spinoff that centers around Reenie and her law firm (which she will undoubtedly expand by hiring more attorneys and other associates). A Tracker spinoff is inevitable due to the original show’s achievements, and the best avenue to take for another series is Reenie’s season 2 story.

How Can Reenie’s Law Firm Can Get A Spinoff And Still Connect To Tracker

Reenie Can Still Help Colter

Colter could still be one of Reenie’s clients in a possible Tracker spinoff about her new law firm. So, Justin Hartley could guest star from time to time, or the characters could occasionally mention Colter to keep the spinoff tied to the original show. Whatever the case, Reenie would still be able to help Colter, even if she isn’t a main character in Tracker anymore.

Plus, Reenie’s law firm isn’t in Tracker all that much. The CBS action drama could easily figure out a way to completely shift away from Fiona Rene’s character so that she could headline her own series. Ultimately, CBS (allegedly) currently has no plans for a Tracker spinoff, but if the network were to consider one, the answer lies with Reenie.
