EXCLUSIVE: To help celebrate the soap’s 13,000th episode, The Young and the Restless has a big surprise for both its fans and, well, Melody Thomas Scott’s Nikki Newman.
As viewers will soon learn, Nikki’s husband Victor (Eric Braeden) made the decision to secretly rebuild their original home after it was burned down in 2012 by that crazy Sharon. Victor’s plan all along was to spring the completed house on his unsuspecting wife. (Apparently, the construction was easy to hide since the Newman ranch is so dang big).
That surprise reveal is set for Friday, Nov. 8 on the CBS sudser. In the above video, Scott and a teary-eyed Braeden view the new set for the first time. Everything was restored back to how viewers should remember it, including that comfy center couch, Nikki’s corner desk and those wooden set of stairs.
“The Newman Ranch burning down was an emotional story for the Newmans, but it was not lost on us that the Newman family and Genoa City just weren’t the same without Victor and Nikki’s original home,” said Josh Griffith, Executive Producer and Head Writer. “We’ve discussed bringing the set back for many years, and decided that its return around Y&R’s 13,000th episode would be perfect timing to help celebrate this incredible milestone as well as the legacy of Victor and Nikki. I must give special thanks to Y&R’s art department and stage crew who went above and beyond in executing the return of one of Y&R’s most iconic sets.”
The Young and The Restless will celebrate its 13,000th episode today at Television City. Airdate for the milestone episode is Nov. 13.
