The soap actor expressed his gratitude to the show’s cast, crew and viewers on social media

Adam J. Harrington’s final episode of General Hospital ended with a bang.

The actor, 51, whose character John Cates was shot twice by Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) on General Hospital’s episode that aired Friday, Aug. 30, tweeted on Sunday, Sept. 1 that he would “miss” the popular soap’s producers and writers, including executive producer Frank Valentini.

“Well @GeneralHospital it was a BLAST, literally!” Harrington tweeted. “To @valentinifrank, producers and writers. Thank you for the SHOT at joining your world. I loved it.”

“To the phenomenal cast and crew. It was a honor to witness the CALIBER of your work,” he continued. “Now, seriously, I will miss you all.”

Harrington followed up with another tweet thanking General Hospital’s fans.

“To the @GeneralHospital viewers and fans. It’s been an honor being in your world, and
feeling your passion,” he added. “To those who have written a goodbye, I’ve read every word and I’m deeply humbled. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Until we meet again … Adam”

The actor first hinted General Hospital’s Aug. 30 episode would be his last the same afternoon the episode aired, tweeting out a short message — “Good night all…..”— along with an image of a sunset.

Harrington’s decades-long acting career started in the ‘90s popping up on TV shows including Millennium, Breaker High and The Outer Limits. In the years since, he’s appeared on Station 19, Bosch and Palm Royale before joining the cast of General Hospital earlier this year.
