CHICAGO Fire’s Sylvie Brett actress Kara Killmer has revealed the real reason behind her exit from the show.
Kara spoke to Deadline in an interview where she discussed her feelings on moving on from her fan-favorite character.Kara, 35, discussed the “natural end” for her character.
“It’s kind of a perfect bookend, really,” she told Deadline.
“I’m selfishly delighted over the fact that Sylvie shows up in Chicago a jilted bride who was dumped at the altar by her high school sweetheart and then ends up across the aisle in her last episode from Matt Casey, the love of her life,” she said.
“I just love that her character has been able to come full circle and it’s it’s such a great way to exit her journey. It’s sort of perfect timing,” she continued. She also called the time she spent shooting her final episode “bittersweet, but more sweet than bitter, for sure.”
Beyond finding her exit coming at the right time, however, Kara also spoke about how “appropriate” it was that Sylvie and Matt Casey came together in the end.
She noted that the cast tried an entire season of seeing whether she could truly be without the love her life, which didn’t work.
“No one would accept it, including Sylvie. I think that those two characters were, as they repeatedly say, they were meant to be. So it’s only appropriate that she would end up with him, which I’m so satisfied with,” she said. And though this is the last season for Kara, she left the door open for another appearance in the future.
“You never know what’s going to happen at 51,” she said.
“I could see that happening and I would be more than happy to pop back in.”
“We love y ou! Thank you for bringing Sylvie Brett to life all these seasons! You’lll be missed for sure but you and Sylvie Brett will always be a part of 51!” wrote another.
“I’m also crying right now. Please tell us you’re giving us ONE more season & a proper send off!!! We love ya!!! You’re actually one of my faves!!!” one fan penned in a comment.
