What bad news does Doc have to tell Hope?
Virgin River season three should be on the way as there were plenty of cliffhangers at the end of the second season. The second installation was released on Netflix in November 2020 and it included plenty of twists and turns. At the end of season two, Doc Mullins (played by Tim Matheson) said he had something to tell Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) and fans were worried about what was to come.
Hope ended up suffering a mild heart attack, which flipped her perspective on life and she felt scared of death.
She made a hasty decision to officially divorce Doc, whom she had been separated from for many years.
Doc was confused as to why she wanted a divorce after so long, and she admitted the heart attack had made her consider how she would spend the rest of her life.
Hope was incredibly hostile towards Doc, and fans could see how the near-miss had shaken her up.
All it took was a little bit of time and Hope eventually recovered from the ordeal and her mindset was in a better place.
Doc had arranged for a lawyer to come and discuss the divorce, but Hope had been too busy preparing for an annual village fayre.
The pair ended up falling out again over the divorce plans, but eventually, Doc presented Hope with divorce papers and told her all she needed to do was sign them.
By this point, Hope had come to realize she still loved Doc, and she wanted him back in her life, and they decided to give their relationship another try.
Towards the end of the season, Doc had Hope’s engagement ring reset and he presented it to her, proposing for a second time.
The wedding reception plans were in full swing, and Hope had been with some of the other residents discussing venues.
But when she arrived hope to speak to Doc about her crazy day, he looked lost for words, and Hope was concerned something was wrong.
He had spent the day in Eureka, supposedly visiting a patient, but he was clearly troubled when he returned.
When Hope asked him what was wrong, he said: “I was in Eureka today visiting with a doctor,” when Hope asked if it was for one of his patients he said: “No, it was for me.”
Hope asked if he had been for a check-up, and he placed his hand on her arm. She said Doc was starting to scare her, but before he had time to explain himself, their front door burst open and a party of residents emerged , having set up a surprise engagement party.
Both Hope and Doc looked taken aback but managed to put on a brave face for their guests, and fans have been wondering what Doc was about to say.
