Keshia Knight Pulliam’s ex: She’s using divorce for attention
In a new court filing Keshia Knight Pulliam‘s ex Ed Hartwell alleges that the former “Cosby Show” star is using their acrimonious divorce for media attention and that he doesn’t owe her a dime.
The documents, which were obtained by TMZ, state that the former football player has paid Knight Pulliam a previously agreed upon amount in full. He also claimed that her imposition of a paternity test deadline was simply a date she made up, but didn’t answer whether or not he’ll actually take the test.
Hartwell, 38, filed for divorce from Knight Pulliam, 37, in July after just six months of marriage and only four months of dating prior that.
“She wanted a baby really fast, and what I was trying to explain to her was that … when you first get married, especially since we didn’t have a long courtship, that we should actually focus on each other and not just have a baby. That’s something she really did want to do,” he told Page Six in July.
He added that they stopped being intimate because he didn’t want to have a child right away, but she still got pregnant.
“As time kept going past and the days went past, some things just weren’t adding up. So for me it’s not me saying she’s a bad person,” he said at the time. “She wants what she wants, I want what I want: she wants a baby, I want to find love and happiness. But at the end of the day, I think if things don’t add up, I think it’s fair for me, if things don’t add up, to want a test.”
“I can’t say she’s been unfaithful. I can say she’s stayed out, she’s not came home, she’s went out-of-town … for three days, I don’t know what’s going on. I can say that,” he continued. “I can’t say she was unfaithful. I can say she wanted to get in vitro, I can say she wanted to do some things to make sure she got pregnant. I just want to make sure it is mine.”
Knight Pulliam previously claimed that Hartwell had not paid her the money he had promised despite several attempts to collect, TMZ reports. She also accused him of missing a deadline for a paternity test.
The actress then reportedly asked police to arrest Hartwell for nonpayment. Cops were previously called to the estranged couple’s rental home in September when Knight Pulliam’s mother refused to let Hartwell pick up his property from the residence.
