“Honestly, the holidays is the worst time for any chef because we go to the restaurant, it’s super busy. You go back home. It’s super busy,” he shared with ET. “And the Ramsay household is like running a restaurant where no one goes home. ““Breakfast, lunch and dinner. ‘Dad, can we have that prime rib tonight?’ We just finished lunch! Can you give me a minute?!’ You’re never off, honestly.”
In January, Gordon spoke to PEOPLE about the prospect of possibly having more children after a funny experience that recently happened with son Oscar.“This morning, Oscar said, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if Jesse and I had a little sister?’ And I spat my Cheerios out,” the father of six recalled. “So yeah, I had to get up from the table and walk away.”“I didn’t wait to see Tana’s reaction. The Michelin-starred chef, 57, opened up about life with six kids while speaking with PEOPLE about his new Miami restaurant, Lucky Cat.
Ramsay and his wife Tana welcomed baby boy Jesse James in November, adding to their crew of five children: daughter Megan, 25, twins Jack and Holly, 24, daughter Matilda “Tilly,” 22, and son Oscar, 4. When asked if he’s open to having a seventh child, Ramsay shared a hilarious anecdote about Oscar.
“This morning, Oscar said, ‘Wouldn’t it be nice if Jesse and I had a little sister?’ And I spat my Cheerios out. So yeah, I had to get up from the table and walk away,” he quipped. The innocently candid question from one of his youngest kids truly shocked the restaurateur — but he tells PEOPLE that another kid isn’t out of the question.
“I didn’t wait to see Tana’s reaction. I literally coughed my Cheerios out all over the table. So yeah, listen, who knows, right?” he reveals.
Anticipating the birth of Jesse was “a nerve wracking 9 months,” Tana wrote in the birth announcement late last year. In 2016, she experienced a pregnancy loss at 20 weeks with their son Rocky. “We’re still super respectful and incredibly remorseful about losing Rocky. And so that was a significant moment in the family’s lives. And so we tread with caution this time around and we were blessed,” Ramsay tells PEOPLE of Jesse’s birth. “Jesse’s really helped bring everyone even closer. And then that level of responsibility again, is just even more exciting. I want to be six times better as a dad than I was twenty-five years ago to Megan.
As a dad in his late fifties, Ramsay says having an infant is “keeping me younger,” which is definitely evident in his many business ventures, including his latest: the opening of Lucky Cat in Miami.
The “sophisticated late-night lounge and restaurant concept” originally opened in the Mayfair neighborhood of London and will soon open its doors to the Florida location on Feb. 2. A press release says the lush restaurant is “inspired by Tokyo’s 1930s kissas and Shanghai drinking dens.”
