Adam Peaty makes touching comment about Holly Ramsay as dad Gordon gives him ‘stamp of approval’

Adam Peaty has praised partner Holly Ramsay’s impact at the Paris Olympics.

Adam Peaty has described partner Holly Ramsay as a “huge part” of Team GB’s Olympic swimming success. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s daughter regularly cooks for athletes in camp.

Peaty and Ramsay met after the British swimming legend took part in the 2021 series of Strictly Come Dancing with his sister Tilly. They went public with their relationship in 2023, ahead of the Uttoxeter-born athlete’s third appearance at the Olympics.

Explaining the importance of Ramsay’s presence at the Paris camp, Peaty told Heart: “[She cooks for me] every day. I’ve learned, actually I lost the will to cook but I’ve learned the skills to cook. Yeah, she’s really great. She has the team going around, we have group breakfasts.”

He added: “She’s really, really great and being part of these performances, we always take these athletes at face value, but it’s the people behind these athletes who really do the work and she’s a huge part of that.”

Peety’s comments will no doubt be echoed by his partner’s father, who is known to be a big fan of the three-time Olympic gold medallist. Earlier this year, OK! reported: “Gordon really approves of Adam, he’s definitely got Ramsay’s approval!

“Gordon is actually a former footballer, he’s a good friend of the Beckhams and he really appreciates all the sacrifices and training that a top athlete like Adam puts into his career.”

A report from Birmingham Live added: “He really likes Adam, the way he treats Holly and would give his blessing if he proposed to his daughter, which seems very likely. He would love to have this Olympian be part of the family.”

While the legendary TV chef is said to respect his potential future son-in-law’s Olympic status, he will need to enjoy it, as Peaty hinted after a tough showing at Paris 2024 that he was considering retiring from the sport.

“If my heart wants it, my heart wants it, and I would definitely sign a contract with myself to do that,” he said after missing out on victory in the men’s 4x100m medley relay. “It’s probably a long way off. But I think I have to walk away from the sport, really, because it’s too painful this time. It really is.”
