The proposed Fuller House spin-off moving forward wouldn’t be a great thing as it would only risk hurting Bob Saget’s Full House legacy.
Doing another Fuller House spin-off will only risk hurting Bob Saget’s Full House legacy. Playing Danny Tanner, the family patriarch, Saget endeared himself as the devoted and charming father of DJ, Stephanie, and Michelle. Throughout eight seasons of Full House and five more of Fuller House, Danny functioned as the pillar of the iconic San Francisco clan. Given Saget’s sad passing in 2022, there’s interest in honoring him by doing another Full House spin-off.
When news broke out that Saget had unexpectedly died, his whole Full House family quickly paid tribute to him on social media. That continued in the year after the tragedy. In an appearance at ’90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, Dave Coulier expressed his interest in another Fuller House spin-off to honor Saget. The intention for the proposal clearly comes from the love the actor has for his late long-time friend. However, considering a couple of factors, it’s easy to see that moving forward with this plan would only risk hurting Saget’s legacy in the franchise.
It’s Unlikely The Full House Tanner Family Can Be Reunited Again
As the family patriarch, Danny brought his clan together. He made sure that his daughters got along with each other while helping Jesse and Joey become more responsible and sensible adults. Even in Fuller House, Danny still functioned as the doting father who cared about his kids. This was also the same role that Saget played behind the scenes with the cast of Full House. Based on stories from his co-stars, he made it a point to keep in touch with everyone and made them feel loved. He kept all of them connected years after the shows ended. Sadly, it’s unlikely that they can fully honor his importance if they do Fuller House season 6 or another Full House spin-off.
Despite several cast members expressing their interest in continuing the Tanners’ story on the small screen, it will be almost impossible to bring them all back. John Stamos has been clear about not wanting to do another Full House spin-off because he doesn’t think it’s appropriate without Saget. Meanwhile, aside from Sweetin’s skepticism of the idea, her rumored feud with co-star Candace Cameron-Bure could be what ultimately forces her to fully close the door on the franchise. Any attempt to do a Fuller House continuation with an incomplete family would just highlight how fragmented they are following Saget’s death.
Can Fuller House Season 6 Still Happen?
The Fuller House finale actually delivered a satisfying send-off to the Tanners, but it wasn’t the original ending that the cast and producers wanted. Abruptly canceling Fuller House left many untold stories, particularly with regard to Stephanie’s new role as a mother. A continuation can still happen since several cast members are eager to do it. However, its biggest problem isn’t the possibility of the series featuring an incomplete cast, but the lack of a platform for it.
