Benedict Unveiled as Bridgerton Season 4’s Romantic Lead
Benedict Bridgerton, the brother of a powerful viscount, has a wardrobe to match his status. But the artist’s Luke Thompson needs some new material. Because an unforgettable masquerade ball is about to take place in Mayfair — and with it, Benedict is Bridgerton Season 4’s leading man.
That’s right, the man who once screamed from the corner of the ballroom is about to become the talk of the marriage fair as he searches for a mysterious woman known as the Lady in Silver. “Benedict has always been a bit of an outsider — or a free spirit, depending on how you want to look at it. But now he’s trying to find something more solid within himself,” Thompson told Tudum.
You can watch him charmingly embrace Benedict’s celebrity future in the video above.
Executive producer Shonda Rhimes credits Benedict with “bringing to life” Bridgerton’s Regency London vibe. “He’s a charming man trying to find his way,” she told Tudum. “He’s so entertaining and funny. I can’t wait for people to see him.”
So what surprises will we see when Benedict dons the Bridgerton mantle? And what else can you expect from Season 4? Read on to find out.
Who is Bridgerton Season 4 about?
Benedict Bridgerton is taking center stage in the ballroom. Season 4, as the synopsis reads, “focuses on freewheeling second son Benedict. Although both his older and younger brothers are happily married, Benedict is reluctant to settle down.” That is, until a glamorous woman known as the Lady in Silver catches Benedict’s eye at Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball. Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Colin (Luke Newton) must be so proud.
Showrunner Jess Brownell is “very excited” to explore Benedict’s upcoming love story after watching him grow up over the course of three seasons. “I feel like it’s important for him to discover himself before he settles down,” she told Tudum. “He’s a man with a lot of desires, and we want to see him live a big life before he settles down.”
So what might that quiet life look like for Benedict? “I’m very excited about what we’re going to do with him in Season 4. There’s so much I want to talk about, but maybe I should wait…”
