Bob Saget, a legendary comedian who rose to fame as the star of ‘Full House’ and ‘Fuller House,’ has died. He was 65 years old.
One of the breakout stars of Full House was Robert Lane Saget, best known as Bob Saget. The comedian portrayed Danny Tanner, the beleaguered and beloved single father to three precocious little girls. For decades, Saget charmed audiences all over the world. On Jan. 9, it was revealed that he was found dead in his hotel room in Orlando, Florida. Saget was 65 years old.
How did Bob Saget die?
As of this writing, a cause of death for Bob Saget has not been released. However, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed his death in a tweet posted on Jan. 9, 2022, at approximately 7:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office made clear that it is not being investigated as a suicide, a homicide, or a drug overdose.
“Earlier today, deputies were called to the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes for a call about an unresponsive man in a hotel room,” they wrote on Twitter. “The man was identified as Robert Saget & pronounced deceased on scene. Detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case. #BobSaget”
In a follow-up tweet, a fan asked if they were referring to “the comedian.” The Sheriff’s office confirmed that the deceased in question was, indeed, Bob Saget.
He was on tour
Though Full House and Fuller House are no longer filming or on the air, Bob Saget was getting a lot of work. TMZ confirmed that the comedian was on tour, and his latest stop was in Orlando. Originally, Saget was supposed to be on tour until May 2022.
In fact, the very last tweet Saget sent out was a thank you to his audience in Jacksonville, Florida from the night before. “Loved tonight’s show @PV_ConcertHall in Jacksonville,” he wrote on Twitter. “Appreciative audience. Thanks again to

Fans began leaving their tributes under this very last tweet of his. Many were lamenting that he was “gone too soon.” And between the announcements of Betty White’s death, Sidney Poitier’s death, and now his death, it was all just “too much.”
But Saget was also beloved by many celebrities, too.
Tributes to Saget began pouring in
Right after the announcement about Bob Saget was made public, tributes to the comedian began pouring in all over Hollywood. “I have always and will always love Bob Saget,” wrote B.J. Novak, who is best known for his work on The Office. WWE superstar The Iron Sheik also posted a tribute to the Full House star on Twitter, noting that he was the “best dad” and that his “heart was broken forever.”
But it was comedian Gilbert Gottfried that came through with the most poignant tribute to his friend.
“Still in shock. I just spoke with Bob a few days ago. We stayed on the phone as usual making each other laugh. RIP to friend, comedian & fellow Aristocrat Bob Saget,” he wrote.
