The critical reception to the fledgling series has been largely positive, with many praising the simple but effective approach to the procedural format that has thoroughly run its course (via Rotten Tomatoes). Despite an abundance of the genre on TV, procedurals that aren’t cop shows prove to be consistently popular because they can use the case-per-week formula without getting bogged down in the repetitiveness of actual police and law proceedings. CBS saw something strong in the first few episodes of Tracker, and the show was quickly renewed for another case.

Tracker Season 2 Release Date
Season 2 Premieres In October
In an extreme vote of confidence in the young series, CBS opted to renew Tracker for a second season before the first batch of episodes even concluded. The network is keen to keep the show’s success going into its sophomore season, and Tracker season 2 will resume its place as one of CBS’ crown jewels when it premiers on Sunday, October 13, at 8pm.
As is the case with most procedurals, the cast of Tracker season 2 is going to look familiar with Justin Hartley returning as the rugged survival expert Colter Shaw. Besides a slew of supporting characters who help to connect Shaw to his past, the series employs a wide range of guest stars in each episode as the eponymous tracker earns his rewards by helping those who need his services the most. At this juncture, it is impossible to guess who those guest stars could be.
It has been confirmed that two guest stars will return to reprise their roles in season 2, which suggests they are being promoted to recurring status going forward. Justin Hartley himself announced that Sofia Pernas will be back as Billie, while Jennifer Morrison will reprise her role as Lizzy in the sophomore outing. Hartley also teased more family drama in season 2, hinting that Jensen Ackles will be back as Colter’s brother, Russell Shaw. The only departure thus far is that of Robin Weigert who appeared in season 1 as Teddi Bruin.
