Simone Biles is revered as one of the greatest gymnasts in American history.
The 27-year-old Olympian has faced her share of hate over the years, but the latest crusade against her has to do with her hair during the 2024 gymnastics all-around team qualifiers. Some internet trolls believed her hair was too messy and she didn’t look professional.
Though she had bigger things to worry about – like winning Team USA medals – she took the time to hit back at the haters. She shared a few words for them on her Instagram Story while on the way to the all-around finals.
Simone posted a photo of herself zoomed in on her slicked-back hair in a ponytail. She wrote: “Don’t come for me.”
“[My hair] WAS DONE but [the] bus has NO AC & it’s like 9,0000 degrees,” she continued, “Oh & a 45 min ride.”
Besides sharing the information about the hot bus ride, Simone also pointed out that regardless of the reasoning, no one should come after a woman’s hair. She posted a selfie on her story where she was wearing a black sleeveless shirt and a silver necklace.
Simone had Airpods in and wore minimal makeup made up of a nude lip and winged eyeliner. On top of this photo, the Olympian wrote with a kiss emoji: “Gonna hold your hand when I say this next time you wanna comment on a black girls hair. JUST DON’T.”
Later that day, Simone along with Suni Lee, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, and Hezly Rivera won gold for Team USA in the all-around event. But Simone didn’t stop there.
While in Paris, Simone became the first American woman to win two Olympic solo all-around and vault titles. She’s the second woman ever to do it besides Věra Čáslavská, a Czech gymnast who won both in 1964 in Tokyo and 1968 in Mexico City. She also took home Siver in the floor exercise behind Rebeca Andrade of Brazil.
