Chicago Bears cornerback Jonathan Owens had a realization about his wife, Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, immediately after he returned a blocked punt for a touchdown against the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the NFL season.
The happily married couple tied the knot in April of 2023. Since then, they have supported each other at gymnastic events and NFL games.
Biles was in attendance for the Bears’ season opener against the Tennessee Titans. Midway through the third quarter, Chicago blocked a punt, and none other than Owens was there to pick the football up and return it for a touchdown.
In a sit-down interview with the Chicago Bears social media team on Friday, September 13, Owens used six words to share that he immediately thought of Biles’ reaction after his touchdown.
Biles recently competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, bringing home three gold medals and one bronze. The three-time Olympian now has 11 medals and is widely considered the best gymnast of all time.
Owens is now in his fourth NFL season, his first with the Chicago Bears. He previously played for the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers. He’s accumulated 227 tackles, two sacks, and one interception in his career.
Owens and the Bears will be in action this Sunday, September 15, against the Houston Texans.
Kickoff in Houston is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
