Simone Biles’ biological mother, Shannon Biles, recently spoke candidly to the Daily Mail about the strained relationship between her and her daughter. Shannon gave Simone and her other children up due to her battle with drug and alcohol addiction.
Speaking of that difficult time, Shannon Biles said: “It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I wasn’t able to care for them. I was still using, and [my father] didn’t want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn’t right.”She went on to add: “I would like to make amends with Simone personally – I’m just waiting for her and [her younger sister] Adria. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward.”
Despite regularly flaunting her wealth on social media, according to her biological mother, Simone has not extended an olive branch of any kind in terms of any financial help. Shannon Biles did say, however, that if her estranged daughter ever offered that help, she would accept it.
