Normally, Simone Biles being in Houston to watch her husband Jonathan Owens and the Chicago Bears face the Texans would be a no-brainer. After all, the couple, who met in Houston in 2020 when Owens played for the Texans, is laying down roots in the city with their new home currently being built in the area.
However, Biles’ schedule is about to be jam-packed, so she couldn’t be there for the Texans’ 19-13 win. Biles’ 30-city Gold Over America Tour kicks off Monday night in Oceanside, California.
On Instagram, Biles posted photos Saturday of her rehearsing the show, which hits Houston on Oct. 19, with her fellow Olympic gymnasts. She wasn’t on the sidelines during pregame warmups and confirmed her absence when she posted more photos on Instagram during the second quarter of the game that showed her in California with Olympic teammates Jordan Chiles and Joscelyn Roberson.
While Biles prepared for her tour, Owens, who is a backup safety, played strictly on special teams for the Bears, recording one tackle.
It’s been a big couple months for the family as Owens got permission to leave training camp for a few days to watch his wife win three gold medals and a silver at the Olympics in Paris.
After dating for three years, the couple got married in a Harris County courthouse in April 2023 before having a wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico a month later.
Owens played four seasons for the Texans, including starting all 17 games in 2022 before signing a one-year, $1 million contract with the Packers in 2023. Owens recorded 84 tackles for Green Bay last season, leading to a two-year, $4.75 million contract from the Bears in March.
