Snoop Dogg has become a fan favorite at the 2024 Paris Olympics due to his role as one of the torchbearers ahead of the opening ceremony, his outspoken affinity for Paris, and his heartfelt connection with Simone Biles’ family
Snoop’s genuine admiration for the Biles clan went above and beyond on Thursday, August 8, as he gifted the iconic gymnast’s dad, Ronald Biles, a massive surprise for his 75th birthday.
Simone, 27, posted a photo to her Instagram Story featuring her dad sporting a gold Death Row chain, courtesy of the “Gin and Juice” rapper. Death Row Records, Snoop’s iconic label, was behind the thoughtful gift. The family also celebrated with a birthday cake, as the 11-time Olympic medalist’s sister, Adria Biles, shared a picture of their father sporting his new accessory.
“Snoop gave him a chain now he don’t know how to act,” Adria, 25, captioned the photo. “75 looks great on you! happy birthday I love you.”
Snoop, 52 — who also served as a special correspondent for NBC throughout the Games -— has spent a significant amount of time with the Biles family throughout his stay in Paris. Biles was in attendance alongside him for a track and field event, where she shared in an X (formerly Twitter) video posted by Snoop, “I’ve actually never watched any other event before [that wasn’t mine], so this is my first time. Yeah, ever.”
Furthermore, during a gymnastics qualification round on July 28, Simone’s teammate Jordan Chiles noticed someone dancing in the crowd wearing a Simone T-shirt and quickly recognized the rapper. This sparked a spontaneous dance party as Biles and Chiles joined in from the floor, enhancing the excitement further.
Simone’s parents Nellie and Ronald watched the Opening Ceremony with Snoop and Hoda Kotb and remembered a time they met Snoop years ago. Nellie shared with the icon, “I’ll never forget we met you in Times Square in 2010. We asked for a picture and you said, ‘Two minutes.’ One, two and you were gone.”
