Bridgerton Cast Guide, Seasons 1-3
Adapted from Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, Bridgerton — described by Entertainment Weekly’s reviewer as “a great treat for those who loved Pride & Prejudice but wanted more sex on the stairs” — focuses on the pursuit of marriage and status among the city’s residents in early 1800s London.
As an anonymous Gossip Girl-style columnist (voiced by Julie Andrews) exposes the town’s most intriguing scandals, viewers will be introduced to the show’s eponymous fictional family and a diverse cast of supporting characters.
With the departure of fan favorites—Phoebe Dynevor will not reprise her role as Daphne Bridgerton in season 3, while Regé-Jean Page was notably absent from seasons 2 and 3—and the return of familiar faces, keeping up with the cast can be a challenge, especially since the third season (which premieres on May 16 and the second half on June 13) introduces a number of new faces.
Here, discover more about the Bridgerton cast from seasons 1 to 3.
01
Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset)
British-Zimbabwean actor Regé-Jean Page caused a stir among viewers when he debuted as Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings, who finds himself paired with Daphne Bridgerton, the crown jewel of the engagement season.
Before Bridgerton, Page notably appeared in episodes of shows like Waterloo Road, Roots, and For the People. He left the period romance series after season 1, although that doesn’t mean anything terrible happened to his character. (The Duke is often mentioned by Daphne and other family members in season 2, but is not present in person.)
“Shonda [Rhimes] and I had a great conversation at the end of season 1. We were pretty happy with how we landed that part,” he told Variety’s Marc Malkin at the 2022 premiere of The Gray Man. “We did such a good job with that redemption arc that people forget that Simon is a little bit horrible. He’s the best example of a Regency f—boy that any of us have ever met. And so because we’ve come full circle, because we’ve landed that part, you get this great feeling.”
Page’s career continues to flourish, earning film credits for The Gray Man and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023) and being named the face of Armani Code in 2022. He will also appear alongside Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming film Black Bag.
Since 2019, Page has been in a relationship with advertising editor Emily Brown.
02
Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton)
British actress Phoebe Dynevor captivated audiences as Daphne Bridgerton in seasons 1 and 2 of the Netflix series. After becoming the crown jewel — the woman considered the most desirable to marry each year — and being paired with the Duke of Hastings in season 1, Daphne’s story was pushed aside in season 2.
“There are a lot of differences between me and Daphne, but I think she values family, which I also value, and at a time when women only had one choice, she was determined to do that as I was in my career, I guess, and I think that’s how I approached Daphne,” Dynevor told Deadline in May 2021. “I admire her more because she’s done it, but she’s the one who makes the decision and she finds love too.”
Before playing Daphne, Dynevor made her television debut on Waterloo Road in 2010. She went on to appear in other series such as Dickensian, Snatch and Younger.
Leaving the show before season 3 (though the door is still open for her to return in the future), Dynevor made her film debut in 2021’s The Colour Room and then starred in Netflix’s thriller Fair Play (2023). The actress will appear in The Outlaws Scarlett and Browne and Inheritance.
After dating comedian Pete Davidson for six months in 2021, Dynevor became romantically involved with actor Cameron Fuller in 2023. The couple’s engagement was recently announced at the 2024 Met Gala.
03
Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte)
Golda Rosheuvel captivated Netflix viewers as the witty and witty Queen Charlotte, a monarch who can make or break a young girl’s season. (Rosheuvel has received a whole new level of attention when her Bridgerton spinoff debuts in 2023, which centers on a young Queen Charlotte and her love story with her husband, King George III.)
